MPUMPALANGA BLACK ACES FOOTBALL CLUB - AMAZAYONI

Media Kit – Aces Vs Ajax Cape Town

Ajax Cape Town will play host to Black Aces in a key Absa Premiership game at the Westpac Stadium this Saturday. Kick-off is at 15h30.
Ajax, with their place in the top eight already assured, have little to play for other than pride and the chance to improve on their current seventh place on the log. The Cape side could finish as high as fifth if they win and results elsewhere go their way.

Aces, unlike their hosts, have a huge amount on the line. The Mpumalanga side could yet finish rock bottom of the league and face direct relegation if they are overhauled by Jomo Cosmos, who are just a point behind.

Aces would want to maintain their 15th place ensuring a one-in-four chance of maintaining their top flight status in the promotion/relegation playoffs.

The Urban Warriors played to a 1-1 draw with Golden Arrows in Durban last week, completing their 15 away games. They will use this final league game as preparation for their upcoming Telkom Knockout first round match against Moroka Swallows.

AmaZayoni had an opportunity to eliminate the chance of finishing bottom last week and possibly even avoid the playoffs but they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs that has left them in a precarious situation. That means the visitors will be desperate and highly motivated opponents.

Ajax and Aces have met just once before: their Absa Premiership meeting earlier this season was won 2-1 by the Cape side thanks to goals from Thulani Serero and Diyo Sibisi. Clifford Mulenga scored Aces’ one goal.

Aces did however beat Ajax convincingly 4-1 at the yearly pre-season Old Mutual Managaung Cup which was played in Botshabelo - and will hoping to replicate this come Saturday. Aces scorers on the day were Motha (2), Lekhothoane and Mulenga.

Meanwhile Jomo Cosmos will be looking to avoid direct relegation when they travel to Soweto on Saturday afternoon to take on Moroka Swallows in their last Absa Premiership game of the 2009/10 season. The match will take place at the Dobsonville stadium, kick-off at 3:30pm.

Currently in last position on the table, only one point behind Black Aces, this will be Cosmos’ last chance to save their PSL lives. They will, however, need the result in the Aces game to go their way. Bottom line is they will need Aces to lose and they will either have to draw their match or win it to avoid direct relegation.

However, playing against the Birds, Cosmos will find a result difficult to get. Swallows are in fine form at the moment and have gone unbeaten in their last seven league games. Their most recent league match saw them beat Platinum Stars 1-0.

Swallows also won the first round 2-0 and Aces will be eager for Swallows to stretch their unbeaten run to 8 games.
