"Tebza" Monyai was speaking to www.blackaces.co.za yesterday before the team departed for Botswana where they will face their counterparts in the African Nations Cup (ANC) on Saturday, March 13.
"I am excited about my latest inclusion in the team, and this could be my turning point to revive my football career. I promise to do my best should the coach give me a chance," said the former Moroka Swallows defender.
Monyai has been included in the Serame Letsoaka’s coached team with other players who did not get enough time play this past league season at their clubs such as Orlando Pirates’ Joseph "Duku Duku" Makhanya.
Caretaker coach Serame Letsoaka says the technical team, which also includes Coaching Education Manager Conti Kubheka, was forced to make a number of changes to the team that previously played against Lesotho and Swaziland in preparation for the Botswana encounter.
Letsoaka says the withdrawal of players is understandable considering that a number of PSL teams that have released players to the National team.
"We would have preferred to have the players we worked with in the previous camps and international friendly matches, players like Thuso Phala of Mamelodi Sundowns and goalkeeper Jacob Mokasi have provided stability in the team, but with many players of Sundowns being selected for the Brazil camp, it was inevitable that Thuso would be needed by the team, and it is the same with other PSL teams that will be starting the knock out competitions," said Letsoaka.
