MPUMPALANGA BLACK ACES FOOTBALL CLUB - AMAZAYONI

Aces could spring a surprise!

Supersport United who have just been crowned the league champions, may come unstuck against Aces in Sundays Telkom Knockout Cup to be played at the Puma Stadium.
Supersport, the Absa Premiership champions have failed to win any of their last three games, drawing against minnows Mbabane Swallows in the CAF Champions League match in Pretoria recently.

Complacency may play into the hands of AmaZayoni, who will be only to eager to shock the Pretoria side. United will be without their Bafana trio of Bongani Khumalo, Daine Klate and Emille Baron who are all in Brazil, and defender Morgan Gould and striker Glen Salmon who are nursing injuries.

Aces will enjoy the underdog tag and the coach expects the players to play with more freedom. The last couple of PSL matches has been extremely strenuous on the team, and as this is cup football it is all about scoring goals, and there is no gaurantee on who will win on the day.

Aces do have a point to prove following 2 league losses against United and should they click on the day – will be very competitive. They have a team of prodigious talent who are super fast on the break and some of the younger players possess immense skill. Yes, some of the Aces players are rough diamonds and have raw talent – but this is a team of fighters interspersed with some accomplished players.

Sundays match is more about pride, building confidence – and most importantly playing for the BADGE!

Thomrick October, Sandile Zuke and Buti Sithole are out due to yellow cards. Expect to see the likes of Bantu "Mnyama" Ngidi, who was this season promoted to the Aces PSL from the AmaZayoni Vodacom franchise. He is an out and out striker who scored 39 goals for his club last season.

Another to look out for is winger Rudiger Gilbert who started the season off with a bang and has recently upped his game. He has pace, skill and is a flair player – and is a potential game breaker.

In keeper Energy Morambandoro, we have one of the best stoppers in the PSl who has had a huge stabilising effect on the defence.

Then there’s Gilbert Mushangazhike who could rectify his disappointing season by playing a blinder. He is tough as nails and a good targetman and hopefully he can reproduce his old awesome form.

Throw in the likes of Mbatha, Ogle, Motha, Masondo and the skillful Itshegetseng – and we have a team that could just surprise the 3 times league champions.

We would like to urge our supporters to come out in their numbers as we believe that this match could be a thrill a minute!
